Cartography of the ray

Laser light sculpture.

This work is conceived as a light and sound sculpture that articulates a dual existence: physical and digital. At its core, a laser beam traverses a mirrored structure, pecifically designed to foster precise interaction between light and the object's internal geometry. This encounter is far from superficial: once inside the form, the ray becomes trapped, bouncing indefinitely between reflective surfaces.

The persistence of these bounces creates complex trajectories that continuously explore the sculpture's confined space. As a result, light patterns emerge that, while finite in their physical support, evoke a sense of visual infinity. The structure thus transforms into a container of luminous pathways, where time and movement are manifested through light.

In parallel, the internal behavior of the system is captured and digitally translated in real time. This mapping generates a virtual representation displayed on screen, establishing a constant dialogue between the material and its computational replica. Consequently, the piece prompts a reflection on perception, duration, and the simultaneity of the physical and the digital art environments
