'Ethereal Natures' is an intervention featuring luminescent sculptures where laser light passes through an acrylic urn with suspended particles and appears to materialize inside a transparent space, as if encapsulated in a box. It is constructed and blurred, giving rise to dynamic and fleeting architecture.
Architecture is composed of many materials, and light, although often unnoticed, is one of the primary ones. This intervention reflects on how to build with light and generate spaces using only this element. It is a research project that has allowed us to explore, on a reduced scale, the full aesthetic and spatial potential of light.
The sculpture is reactive to the presence and position of the viewer in the room. A system of four 360-degree LIDAR sensors, along with a custom application programmed in C++, monitors the position and number of viewers in real time. This data is then sent to the software TouchDesigner, which is responsible for generating compositions based on these parameters and for creating and altering the sound space. The real-time interaction between the viewers and the sculpture creates a dynamic experience, enhancing the engagement and immersion within the exhibit. Through this innovative blend of technology and art, the sculpture transcends traditional static displays, inviting viewers to become a part of the evolving narrative the artwork unfolds.
